Advanced Clinical & Theoretical Training
Advanced Training Program in Bowen Theory
Our Advanced Training program meets monthly, offering eight sessions per year, each featuring three hours of lecture and study in Bowen Theory. Additionally, participants have four opportunities to observe supervised sessions with a Bowen-trained coach. The program focuses on clinical applications, aiming to integrate family systems theory into the clinical process.
Participants are expected to apply Bowen Theory concepts both personally and professionally. The course is designed to encourage self-directed learning through family study, reading assignments, and exposure to clinical situations. This structure helps students develop the skills needed to supervise from a theoretical perspective. Over time, students should demonstrate the integration of Bowen Theory in their personal functioning and clinical practice.
Our faculty members are experienced clinicians who are deeply knowledgeable in Bowen Theory and committed to applying it in their practices and personal lives. They will serve as consultants to the students, with individual consultation available upon request.
Students are expected to attend and actively participate in each session. There will also be opportunities to present clinical cases and organizational systems for consultation.
This program was approved by the National Association of Social Workers – Tennessee Chapter (Provider Number:NASWTN 2024-0135) for 38.0 continuing education units.
